Police ID Pedestrian Killed By Hit-Run Driver In Prince George's County (Updated)

The Prince George's County Police Department has identified the 55-year-old man killed by a hit-and-run driver who remains at large days later.

At approximately 8:10 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, officers were called to the 9000 block of Contee Road in Laurel, where they found Barry Mitchell suffering from traumatic injuries in the roadway.

The Laurel native was rushed to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators say that the driver of an unidentified vehicle was traveling eastbound on Contee Road, when for unknown reasons, they struck Mitchell before speeding away from the area. 

They are still working to determine the make and model of the vehicle in an effort to identify the driver.

The crash remains under investigation.
